TULANE IS COMMITTED

To become a truly great university — defined by breakthrough discovery, world-class scholarship and transformative personal growth and enrichment — Tulane must be an equitable, diverse and inclusive community that welcomes and supports a wide array of students, faculty and staff.

Green Dividing Line

We must foster an environment where each member of our academic family is not only supported but is able to thrive. Over the past several years, we have made great progress together, but we know we must do more. Tulane is committed to the advancement of all members of our community.

There are many ways your generosity could help make Tulane University a more diverse, equitable and inclusive community.

We must foster an environment where each member of our academic family is not only supported but is able to thrive.

Giving Opportunities

Scholarship Support for Students

Your generosity would support scholarships to increase diversity at Tulane and help retain talented undergraduate and graduate students. With your help, we could award more scholarships and open the doors to a Tulane education to deserving students. Expanding scholarships would allow Tulane to enhance our current admission outreach to underrepresented communities, and welcome a more diverse, more inclusive, more representative cohort of students. Scholarships enable students to pursue their lifelong passions — becoming the teachers, government officials, artists, ministers or public health officers we need for a well-rounded society — instead of choosing a career path based solely around repaying their educational debts.

The Center for Academic Equity

The Center for Academic Equity provides guidance, advocacy and support so that every student has equitable access to academic resources and opportunities. Your gift to support the Center for Academic Equity would help the center serve all students who may face greater challenges when transitioning from their high school experience to the Tulane campus. This includes first-generation students, student participants in programs like Posse and College Track, as well as self-identified students from underrepresented backgrounds. Their success can hinge on the guidance provided as they navigate an unfamiliar social, cultural and academic landscape.

The Office of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion General Fund

Your support could be dedicated to the purpose of addressing racial injustice and racial equity to make Tulane a more inclusive, more diverse, more just university.

The Office of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion provides institutional EDI support and supports equity initiatives for faculty and staff across the university. Your generosity could be used to award EDI grants or further EDI research by Tulane faculty that examines historical and ongoing instances and practices of injustice and inequity. There are numerous scholars across many fields at Tulane already conducting EDI research into EDI issues, and your generosity could enhance their important work and foster collaborative efforts. Donors can also sponsor EDI programming efforts so our faculty and staff can learn how to use cutting-edge EDI science to foster a campus of belonging, such as the EDI-Professional Development Program for Faculty and Staff and the annual Anti-Racism and EDI Teach-In for Faculty and Staff. There are also several faculty and staff affinity groups that support diverse communities on Tulane’s campus (e.g., Black, Indigenous, Asian/Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander, Latine, Chinese, LGBTQ+, veterans, disability).

Giving through the Tulane Fund for Equity and Diversity allows for unrestricted annual funds to address issues related to equity. Your support would allow resources to be directed where they can make the most difference, seizing opportunities as they arise and responding swiftly to changing circumstances and equity needs.

The Carolyn Barber-Pierre Center for Intercultural Life

As Tulane continues to increase diversity on campus, it is crucial that the university provides services for all students to succeed. In addition to being a home where diversity thrives, the Carolyn Barber-Pierre Center for Intercultural Life, which includes the Office of Multicultural Affairs, Office of Gender and Sexual Diversity and Office of Religious Life, works throughout campus to catalyze open, dynamic and vibrant learning environments where all students’ histories, traditions and cultures are welcome and respected. Your support of the Carolyn Barber-Pierre Center for Intercultural Life would support a center that brings students together from across racial, sexual, ethnic, national and gender identities to create a hub for diverse cultural, social and intellectual exchanges, events and relationships. The center provides students of color, LGBTQ+, veterans and allied students with advocacy services, mentoring, personal support, leadership development and educational, cultural and social programming to support their social and overall well-being at Tulane and their ability to thrive thereafter.
